GenVision Power, Tatanga Energy, and AMDG Energy have entered into an agreement to jointly develop a 300-MW solar power plant with up to 800 MWh of battery storage in Zambia’s Copperbelt region.

The Northern Power Project, to be built roughly 10 km north of Kitwe, aims to strengthen Zambia’s electricity supply and support industrial expansion in one of the country’s most economically significant regions.

The partnership brings together three complementary players:

  • GenVision Power (Sofia, Bulgaria) – a fully integrated independent power producer backed by Glencore and Nvision, covering development, engineering, financing, construction, and operations.
  • Tatanga Energy (Harare, Zimbabwe) – an IPP developer focused on fast-deployable and cost-efficient clean energy, with projects including the Sable Solar PV Park and Zimbabwe’s largest wind power facility.
  • AMDG Energy (Zambia) – a developer of large-scale solar and wind power projects, with a focus on advancing the region’s clean energy transition.

“By combining GenVision’s integrated project delivery model with Tatanga’s and AMDG Energy’s regional expertise and local presence, we are creating a strong platform to deliver real economic impact and energy security for Zambia,” GenVision said in a statement.
