GreenGo and SET Select Partner on Mauritania Green Ammonia Project

GreenGo Energy has brought German energy trader SET Select Energy GmbH on board for its Megaton Moon power-to-X (PtX) project in Mauritania. Once completed, it will be among the world’s largest green ammonia plants, with a gigawatt-scale electrolyser capacity.

SET Select will co-develop the project and secure offtake agreements, focusing on ammonia export. The company will manage long-term marketing, transhipment, distribution, and financing options for the green ammonia.

Location and Production
Megaton Moon will be located 20 km south of Nouakchott. It will produce green hydrogen from seawater and nitrogen extracted from the air, which will then be converted into green ammonia. The facility will run entirely off-grid, powered by solar and wind energy, and meet all European regulatory and technical standards.
