Valérie Levkov’s career path has been anything but conventional. Starting out as a nuclear engineer at EDF in 1987, she navigated through various roles within the company, including research and development, IT technologies applied to power plants, and corporate finance. 

However, it was her time spent in the international development division for nuclear activities that would ultimately shape her future trajectory.

As the world’s energy landscape began to shift towards renewable and sustainable solutions, Valérie found herself at a crossroads. 

She could either continue down the path of traditional energy sources or embrace the emerging opportunities in the sustainable energy sector. 

It was a decision that would not only challenge her own beliefs but also test her ability to adapt and innovate. Valérie chose the path less traveled. She made a bold move, transitioning from EDF to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.

In her new role as the Global Industry Director for Energy, Metals & Mining, and Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory, Valérie leveraged her extensive experience in the energy sector to drive sustainable infrastructure development and innovation.

Her journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a passion for sustainable practices. 

Valérie has spearheaded projects that promote corporate social responsibility and sustainable energy solutions, setting new benchmarks for industry standards. 

Through her strategic insights and expertise, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship and technological innovation.

HER ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. Advancements in Energy Efficiency: 

           Valérie’s work has been instrumental in driving advancements in energy efficiency through standards and labelling programs, leading to significant reductions in electricity consumption and emissions. These initiatives have not only contributed to energy savings but have also stimulated economic activity and job creation in the energy sector.

2. Environmental Stewardship and Innovation:

       Valérie’s efforts in promoting environmental stewardship and driving innovation among manufacturers have had a positive impact on reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable practices in the energy industry. Her dedication to sustainability has set new benchmarks for industry standards and practices.

   3.Transition to IFC

         Valérie Levkov transitioned from EDF to the IFC after 36 years. She now heads the global energy, metals and mining industry division.  Levkov advises on sustainable infrastructure. This move marks a significant career achievement. It demonstrates her adaptability and expertise. She is ready to take on new challenges in the energy sector.

  4.  Recognition for Achievements:

   – Valérie Levkov has been acknowledged for her contributions, as indicated by her mention in a document from UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) as the Senior Vice President for Africa & Middle East at EDF.
